Happy Congenital Heart Defect Awareness Day!
It is a beautiful sunny day here in Troy. We had a snowstorm last night and the kids are home with a snow day today. There are snowdrifts everywhere; our driveway was a good 3 ft deep in some areas with no snow cover in other areas. The plows have yet to come through the sub this morning - but I'm sure we'll see them sometime today. I'm guessing with this additional snow day the kids will have to make up instruction time in June. They aren't thinking about that right now, they're outside making a snow fort and sledding down the drifts.
If I have your address, I'm sure you got an email from me regarding The Congenital Heart Network's "Care of Hearts" Campaign. If you didn't get it and are interested, check out my campaign page at www.tchin.kintera.org/michellehaight1 . TCHIN is an international nonprofit organization serving the needs of families and individuals with CHD. It is a worthwhile organization and I'm glad to be a member.
Other things in life are good. We are getting ourselves ready to travel to Florida on Saturday. The kids are climbing the walls - they're so excited. I'm going to need stiff drink once we get to Grandpa's condo. I thought traveling when they were little was difficult, it doesn't get easier - just different. But it is all worth it -- it will be so nice to see Mom & Dad.
I just heard the plow go by -- I'd better go shovel out the van... we're on our way to the library. Happy Valentine's Day.
God bless, Michelle
ps. My best friend Laura's mother, Ellen Taylor (who I have written of before), is at home with Hospice Care. Mrs. Taylor had open-heart surgery last fall. This winter she broke her hip and suffered another heart attack while in the hospital. She is surrounded by loved ones in the comfort of her home. Please keep the Taylor family in your prayers. Laura and I have been close friends since grade school. She is a very special person in my life and her family is very dear to my heart.
