Good Monday Morning! I'm sorry it has been a while since I've posted. Things have been a little crazy here (and I'm not just talking about the Tigers....), we spent one week with Marisa home ill and the next week we played "catch-up" and now things seem to be back on track. What do you think about them Tigers? After going to two games in the Yankees series, Dave decided to watch the ALC series at home with the rest of us. What a great sweep! A week ago Sunday afternoon Dave and the kids got busy making the "Destiny" sign above, and by Sunday night he had it pounded in the ground in our front yard. He and I went to Game 1 of the World Series on Saturday. What an awesome night, even though the outcome wasn't what we would have liked. People were so nice and outgoing -- we sat in the lower deck out in left field (under the scoreboard) and the fans there were wild. From our seats we could wave to my dad and longtime family friend Shirley Goldman who were up in the Champion's Club Suites (compliments of Shirley's son Howard). I was a little bit jealous of their seats, but we had a blast with the rest of the "commoners" in left field. Paul and Teecee also went to the game; we met up with them in the 7th inning. Craig went down with some childhood friends from Negaunee who Dave and I met up with at the Detroit Brewing Company (around the corner from CoPa) before the game. Never been to the World Series before, it was an absolute blast. Dave can now cross that off his "Things I Want to Do In My Life Before I Die" list. Now last night's game (which we watched from home with the kids) was more like the Tigers we love to watch. People around here are convinced Detroit will take the series in 5 games. I guess that means we'll be winning the next three games. Dave's got "standing room only tickets" for game 6 & game 7, so I'm sure he wants them to play a few more games before winning the series. I told him if there is a game 6 and game 7, I'm going back down to the park with him. There is as big of a party going on around the perimeter of CoPa as well as inside the park. I'm sure I could make some new friends and cheer on the Tigers from the outside. Today is a big day too. Our next-door friend, Mike Brophy, is having heart surgery this morning at U of M. I saw him last night and he seems well considering. I've been thinking about him a lot lately and it has brought back some strong memories of my surgery. I remember how awful things were once I had my date on the calendar. Waiting for the day to come is unnerving. The wait has really been difficult for him-- as it usually is for anyone, the dread of knowing what is to come. I pray all will go well and I know his wife Anne plans to update his blog regularly. I think I've mentioned before that he has a webpage much like mine. If you have a moment and could visit his site, may-be sign his guestbook - I'm sure he would benefit from the support. His web address is www.geocities.com/brophman2
Well, I'd better get going. Natalie is reminding me she needs to eat lunch before I take her to school and that she only has one hour before school starts. Have a great Monday. And....... Go Tigers! God bless, Michelle
