Entry for October 10, 2006

(Went to the apple orchard with Dom's class last week - beautiful fall day in Michigan)
Good Tuesday morning all. Things are good here, although the kids aren't well. Dominic and Marisa are both home from school today with 24hr flu. To put a positive spin on things, it is nice to stop everything and rest for a couple days. Things have been so crazy busy since school started. They are both feeling better today and should return to school on Wednesday.
I know I have mentioned my next-door neighbor Mike and his upcoming open-heart surgery. He goes in on Monday, October 23. Two weeks from yesterday. I can remember all too well how difficult it is the weeks before surgery. I feel badly for him and want these next 13 days to pass as quickly as possible. Too much time for crazy thoughts to fill your head. He put together a great website with a blog (similar to mine) -- his web page address is www.geocities.com/brophman2 --I'm sure he'd appreciate the support and care of anyone visiting his site, be sure to sign his guestbook. I'm very confident all will go well for Mike. His surgery is at UofM like mine - although in a different section of the hospital. The Brophys are great neighbors, you really couldn't ask for better. I find it interesting how he and I experienced such similar things at the same time -- God works in mysterious ways. I wish him all the best.
The Tigers play again tonight, against Oakland at 8:19pm in California (weird time for a ballgame). We decided to watch this series at home or at a sports bar. I told Dave he's taking me to the World Series if the Tigers make it (and we get tickets...). It occurred to me after the fact that I missed out on all the hoopla last weekend because I was at home with the kids while he attended the games. Baseball games at Comerica Park are all to familiar to me and going to the playoffs didn't stand out in my mind because I've seen so many games. I really do hope the make the Series.... that kind of positive energy in Detroit is awesome.
Well, I should go check on the kids. Have a great rest of the week, and Go Tigers! God bless, Michelle
