(Dave and me last summer at the Home Run Derby, Comerica Park)

Hi there. It's week 7 already. Things are going good. I've gotten all too used to the palpitations, and they don't seem to bother me too much. They come usually at night or in the afternoon if I need a nap. I've been doing a 30 minute brisk walk each day (I just have to remember to keep my hands in my pockets so as to not use my arms & chest muscles), it feels so good and the weather has been so cooperative. I don't have the palpitations then, when my heart rate is up my heart really works well. I feel my best during those times. As for my muscles, I can't believe how sore I am still. I'm sure I'm doing things I shouldn't - lifting more than I'm supposed to, etc... but I'm surprised at just how much I still cannot do, or do with much painful resistance. The most obvious is when I try to pitch when playing baseball with the kids in the yard. I definitely pitch like a girl now. My chest muscles won't let me pull my arm back, and the ball usually falls about two feet in front of me. I keep reminding myself I can't make my recovery happen faster....that's the one thing I've learned most about myself through this ordeal. I've always tried to control every aspect of my life (Dave could go on and on about me and my obsessive need to control everything....) and this has been something completely out of my control. I have to just operate on faith. The notion that all will be fine and that it will come in good time. It is so difficult to just let go and completely trust God and yet it is so important. It is that very faith God craves from us. I'm still working on that.....

Other things around the Haight house are good. The kids are so ready for school to start. It will be strange having them all gone for the first time ever. I've got this great mental list of all the things I'm going to get done this fall....we'll see how that goes.... Tigers are still doing alright, although they lost to the White Sox today 10-0. Dave has been to 2 games this week, and we'll go as a family again next Friday. It is cool to follow a team for so long (all they years they were so bad...) and then have a good season. Dominic is convinced they are going to the World Series. We'll see......

The kids are at the Bussa's this afternoon playing. I've had a quiet house for a good couple hours. I took a quick nap, cleaned like a crazy lady and now I should get started on dinner. Oh, the excitement is almost overwhelming....

Best wishes for a beautiful weekend. Laugh a lot. God bless, Michelle
