Haight updates.....
Entry for July 5, 2006

Hello for Wednesday.  I spent the day at U of M, went in at 7:30am  and returned home at 7pm.  It was a day of tests, blood work and more tests.  I have a greater appreciation for anyone who has had any kind of surgery in their life - big or small.  It was quite an ordeal, but it really helped me prepare for what comes tomorrow.  I am still so overwhelmed by the care, concern and love from family and friends.  Thank you all so, so much.  It is the love you have shown me that keeps my focus strong.  I know God is with me and that all will be ok, but I am still very scared.  I worry so much about the kids - that's my job as mom though, right?  They will be fine  - they are so excited that Grandpa & Grandma Haight are coming to stay with them for the week.

Dave is doing great, he filled his I-Pod with relaxing music for me to listen to before and during and after surgery.  I have heard that really helps people.  It sounds like after surgery I'll spend a couple days in ICU.  We were taken up there today, it was full of tiny little babies who also had heart surgeries.  I cried.  I first remembered Dominic's outpatient surgery on his heart and how difficult it was to see such a helpless infant go through such a procedure.  He was so fragile and sweet and I cried so many tears hoping everything would be alright.  Then I remembered that I was one of those tiny little babies 30 some years ago.  I made it then, didn't I? I can do this again - it's like riding a bike, right?

It is getting late, and Dave tells me I should try and get some rest.  We've got an early start in the morning.  I want so much to thank each and every one of you, my dear friends and family, for all the wonderful things you have and are doing for me.  I can't believe the offers of meals, kid watching, grocery shopping and general "whatever you need I will do, and at whatever time you need it"... Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Thank you so much Kerriaine and Pat, for taking care of Reggie-dog and always being there (just three houses down...). Dave and I really appreciate you watching our "firstborn".

Have a wonderful weekend everyone.  I'm sure Dave will update the site regarding how my surgery went.

Love, Michelle
