Hi there. The picture above is from Memorial Day at Gun Lake (Grandpa & Grandma Haight's house) - the kids love to fish off the dock together with cousin Spencer Cable. I had my appointment with the CHD specialist yesterday. Dr. Kovach is the only cardiologist in Michigan who specializes in congenital heart defects. She is really good. My appointment went well. She was pleased that I started walking daily, and recommended multiple short walks versus one longer walk. She also said my heart has returned to sinus rhythm, which is a very good thing. I still experience heart palpitations and strange sensations - but the "thumping" has gone away. The concerns regarding my resting heart rate and the potential need for a pacemaker have been dismissed. I think as time passes my heart will feel more normal. Although, I never have had a "normal" heart - Dave does a really good impression of my strange heartbeat. Also, yesterday, my dad was discharged from the hospital. My mom brought him in on Monday; I think I mentioned then how he wasn't feeling good. They did a series of tests (brain scan, heart echo, etc.) and turns out he was malnourished and dehydrated. I was glad to hear that's all it was, but feel so badly for him. Trying to figure out what he can eat, and then being able to "keep it down" has been very exhausting for him. He is tired and frustrated with how difficult eating has become. With my mom free of taking care of me, she has directed her attention to ways for him to get the nutrition he needs. Well, I'd better get going. I hope all is well in your life today. God bless, Michelle
ps. Special prayers for Ellen Taylor, my close friend Laura's mother. She is having emergency open-heart bypass surgery today at Beaumont. I'm confident all will go well, Mrs. Taylor has faced many health challenges over the years - and always come through with flying colors.
