Entry for July 20, 2006

Good evening.  Dave's reading the kids their bedtime stories, so I thought I'd write a quick entry.  The days continue to go by, some better than others.  Today was my first outing.  I went to Natalie's graduation from "Safety Town".  It was quite exciting.  I had to rest up all morning to be able to have the energy to spend an hour out.  It was so very nice to be able to be out of the house and be a part of the regular daily activities.  I went in my usual clothes - pj bottoms and tank top (nothing else is comfortable to wear).  I have been keeping up with my daily walks and yesterday felt so great in the morning that I neglected to sit and rest until after lunch.  I paid for it later; I became overtired and felt quite sick.  Dave tended to me with a wet washcloth on my forehead and kind words.  My heart continues to have an abnormal rhythm, and when I feel ill like that it can be quite scary.  My heart pounds and I have to keep reminding myself I am fine and will feel better.  Today I was much smarter, I got up and helped with the kids breakfast and then rested.  Then I showered, got dressed and rested.  Then I ate lunch and rested.  Then it was time to go to Natalie's graduation.  Guess what I did afterwards?!  I rested.....     That is the most difficult aspect of recovering....listening to my body and not my mind.                      I'm getting so excited that the weekend is almost here, it means Dave will be home.  It makes all the difference when he is around.  The kids do better and he does such a great job at keeping my spirits up.  My mom continues to come each day during the week.  She really has put her own life on hold to take care of mine.  Dave and I feel so blessed having her close by and so willing to help.  Sometimes the old saying, "there really isn't anything greater than a mother's love," knows no age boundry.                       Well, Dave has just finished reading, so it's time to tuck in our little chicks.  My favorite part of the day.                                     Take care, thanks for your love and prayers.  God bless, Michelle

Hey Michelle,
You don't look like you just had OHS. Except for the zipper. WElcome to the club. How do you feel about having a scar right in front there. I know it's potentially more of an issue for women than for men. I'm proud of mine - also the one that comes around the left side of my body. It's an interesting trip this CHD thing. Pretty surreal. Continue feeling better.
