Dave has taken the kids to church this morning, so I thought I would spend the quiet time writing an entry for today. Something dawned on me after reading my other entries, and that was that I haven't shared how incredibly awesome Dave has been through this whole ordeal. It is easy to take the care and love of your spouse for granted - and I can't believe I haven't told you how special he has been. Dave took the week I was in the hospital off from work, traveling back and forth to Ann Arbor from Troy - he slept most nights in the chair inside my hospital room. When I came home, he continued with some time off - taking 1/2 days through the end of that first week. I feel so blessed to have him; he's driven kids to wherever they need to go, cooked dinner, cleaned the pool so the kids could swim, grocery shopped, put together this cool website and just has been the rock from which I get my strength. Being married to him is so much fun, and I feel so lucky to have such an incredible soul mate.
My health is still improving, slowly but surely. Yesterday morning I decided to take a walk outside. I woke up feeling good and took off down the sidewalk. My body has been craving exercise (I stopped working out cold turkey the day before my surgery). Just being outside for that five-minute walk, however, really did me in. The humidity made it very difficult to breathe. I came back into the house struggling for air. I have to remember when my mind says, "hey, let's go somewhere...do something..." that my body is going to reply, "you're crazy...fool." So, I'm back to walking my laps around our nicely air conditioned house.
With my surgery behind us, we are able to focus and pray for Dave's Dad Glen who is having hip surgery on July 25th in Grand Rapids. He has been in pain for some time now and we are hopeful this procedure will relieve him. Please keep him in your prayers, he and Jan are doing well and were such a godsend to have here with the kids while I was gone. Dave is going up for the surgery, and I'm sure all will go well.
Well, keep cool today. Tigers won last night...wahoo! Today's game is going to be sooo hot. I'm sure Dave and the kids will spend the afternoon in the pool listening to the game on radio. I plan to spend my day in the chair I call home: reading, watching chic flicks & sleeping. Have a great Sunday. Love, Michelle
