We'll Show 'Em We Rock-Half 2

Two Weeks Later-- There was a knocking at the door, and Mercedes jumped up from the couch to answer it. Lisa's face came into view as she opened the door. "Hey!" Mercedes said enthusiastically. "Hi," Lisa said back with a frown. She stepped inside and walked right to the living room and sat down. Mercedes looked at Lisa, knowing that something was wrong, and walked after her to the living room and also sat down at her usual couch. "What's wrong?" Lisa started to pplay with her fingers, "Well, I kinda don't like this whole band idea thing. Id unno.. it's just a waste of time for me. You know?" Mercedes squinted her eyes, "Huh? How can you not like being in a band? It's reallyfun for me."

Lisa continued, "Well that's you. I have more important things to do." Lisa stood up from the couch and immediately walked to the door. Mercedes stood up also, quite angry , "Yeah ok, fine. We'll just find another bassist. It's not the end of the world." Then the door slammed and nothing was left to say.

Later that night, Fallon, Morgan, and Mercedes were in the basement folling around on their instruments. Fallon stopped playing, "Hey, is Lisa coming here tonight?" Mercedes paused, "She, um quit." "Really??" "Uh huh." Morgan was still playing her guitar, not aware of what was just said. Fallon walked over to her and told her the news. Morgan frowned and then walked over to where Mercedes was, and they discussed what they were going to do.

Morgan: "Well, this time I don't think we should just take in anyone that is available." Fallon: "Yeah." Mercedes: "So you're saying that we should have a try-out?" Morgan: "Exactly. We'll just run a small advertisement in the local newspaper. It shouldn't cost much. I have $30. What 'bout youguys?" Mercedes: "Um, absolutely nothing." They looked hopefully at Fallon. "Don't worry, I have money, about another $30."

On Monday the advertisement was in the newspaper (they couldn't afford to have it run on Sunday.) Few people called the Lader's home for try-outs, about 7, but that was good enough. The try-outs were to be held on Wednesday, and they would pick on that very day.

That Wedesday the small basement was packed with people and basses. The noise was extrememly loud, cause they were given a few minutes to practice. Morgan clapped her hands, "Alright everyone, I'll just call you up one by one, and you can playwhatever you want to for about 5 minutes. Then just go back to the corner and wait cause we will decide today who we want." The people immediately went to a corner and sat on the ground, waiting nervously to be called. Mercedes shouted, "Nick Belson!" A young boy, about 11 walked up before the girls. He plugged in his bass to the amp and played a simple tune, obviously his own. Mercedes looked at Fallon and gave a soft laugh. After 2 minutes Nick was done and went back to the corner. "Pamela Harison!" A gothic girl, about 16, rose from the ground. Her style was catchy, and so was her bass playing. She played a song of her own, which was very creative. The girls liked it a lot. She played a little over 7 minutes, whichwas okay with Kittie, cause she played so damn good. The next girl was called "Tanya Candler!"

A blonde girl arose, dressed in all black and fishnets. She wore dark eyeliner and lipstick. She too, was very catchy. She played extrememly well, and even sang a part of her song. She pllayed for a short 2.5 minutes, but that 2.5 minutes were wonderful. The next 4 people came up and tried out, and then the time came to pick. Morgan told the crowd to wait patiently while they discussed who they were going to pick.

"Damn, that Pamela was awesome," said Fallon. "Nah, I really like Tanya, she was fantastic," said Mercedes. The 2 looked at Morgan, as if she were the tie-breaker. Morgan thought for a moment, "I really can't decide. They were both awesome." Mercedes continued, "But Tanya can sing. She'd be great to have as a back up vocalist when we need her. She's also fantiastic with the bass. I think we should pick her." Morgan looked at Mercedes, "Sh! You're talking too loud! Well, yeahh, I agree too I guess." They looked at Fallon, who gave in, "Yeah, I agree too." All 3 turned around and looked at the crowd. They decided earlier that Morgan would announce who made the band. She looked really nervous, and she didn't want to hurt the people that didn't make it. "Ok, well I just wanna say that you were all great. We had trouble picking between 2 people, but we came to the conclusion that we would pick.. Tanya." A happy blonde girl arose from the corner. She walked over and hugged Morgan. "Welcome to Kittie," Fallon said nicely. 2 people applauded for Tanya, and the others left immediately, obviously angry. This was the band. This was Kittie.
