On December 27, 2002, Michelle and Mark Lavigne were downtown celebrating a friend's birthday, and while the evening's events were winding down they were determined to keep the party going. They ventured over to the Heart & Crown in Ottawa's Byward Market for a few beverages, and although two's fun, three's always company, Mark decided to call his friend Andrew, better known to many as AC or Drew.

Michelle and Andrew started talking and quickly realized they had many mutual friends, had attended many of the same events, and had grown up in the same neighbourhood. It amazed them to think how many times their paths would have crossed over the years.

They met again a month later while out with a group of friends, and it was evident to everyone that they were captivated with each other. Their first date was a week later where they enjoyed a day together at Winterlude.
