DEA Administrator Hutchinson responded in late April to the
Congressional "Dear Colleague" letter co-signed and sent to DEA by 22
Congress members in late April, which Vote Hemp helped Congressional
allies compose.  The "Dear Colleague" letter is posted at:

Vote Hemp found out about the DEA response in late May from
Congressman George Miller's office.  The DEA's letter basically
outlines the arguments and approach that DEA is looking to take in
this next round with the issuance of their final rule and subsequent
court battle with us.  We don't know when the final rule will be
issued, and what it will look like depends a lot on the nature of the
Ninth Circuit's  ruling on the "interpretive" rule.  The DEA's
response letter to Congress is posted at:

This DEA letter is a blessing in disguise, as we have been able in
this last month to carefully think through and craft our response not
only for Congress, but for a Court down the line.  We have put a lot
of effort and work into our response letter which we sent to each of
the 25 Congresspeople who received DEA's letter (we also sent our
previous one-page bulleted summary).  You will see we are able to
counter DEA on every misrepresentation and bogus claim they make.  We
feel confident as we go forward that DEA will NOT be able to put a
ban on hemp seed and oil with trace miniscule THC.  Our letter to
Congress in response to DEA's letter is posted at:
