ANTI-WAR RALLY SAT. MAR. 8 AT CAMP SMITH/VA HOSPITAL NEAR
PEEKSKILL,N.Y.
A rally focusing on the casualties of the Iraq War, on all sides, will be
held Saturday, March 8 at 11 a.m. at Annsville Circle on Route 9 just north of
Peekskill. There will be a march north a short distance on the Bear Moutain
Bridge Road to the entrance of Camp Smith and then a caravan to the Veterans
Administration Hospital in Montrose where flowers will be placed at the entrance
commemorating casualties of past wars and the expanding Iraq War. People are asked to bring flowers for this purpose.
March 8 is International Women's Day, and Sandra Dolman, director of the
Peekskill People's Housing Coalition, will speak about the war in relation towomen, as will others.
Speakers will also include David Cline, National President of Veterans for
Peace, who will present a letter at the gate of Camp Smith that has been sent by
Veterans for Peace to the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, calling on them "to not
engage in the political leaderships' illegal war."
This reschedules the rally set for Feb. 22 that was postponed due to snow.
