My Adventures
This is whats going on in my life right now.
September 1, 2006

Well, it has been an exciting last couple days. It all started on Tuesday August 29. I was having a bad day. I found out that the liscence plate number we had for the lady that hit my car and drove off was wrong, which means that I now have to pay my deductible, which wouldnt be so bad except that I still have other damage to deal with.  When I got to work I found out that about $20 had been stolen out of my float money. And then work just wasnt going very well.

So after I went home Amanda and I talked for a little while and I was saying how I was probably going to go to Kamloops for the next two days because I had them off. She was having a bad day as well and wanted to come. Then we decided that there is nothing to do in Kamloops so maybe we should go to Vancouver instead. Some how I think I got the idea that maybe we should go to the States, maybe Seattle. So long story short we decided to do it. At 12 am we decided that we were going to drive to Seattle. It was a great idea. So we packed up and were out of Kelowna by 1am.

The drive was awesome. We listened to some Aqua, Brittney Spears, Backstreet Boys, and we sang and danced the whole way.  We were at the toll both by about 3am and made a pit stop, as we were running out we ran into someone we knew, how wierd at 3 in the morning... Anyways, We arrived in Abbotsford some time in the early am and decided to nap for a little bit, in the McDonalds parking lot, considering we had had no sleep since Monday night. We slept for about 1.5 hours, then filled up with gas and headed to the boarder.  Since it was still early when we arrived, the crossing that we had got to was still closed, we remembered seeing another sign and went that way. Well the signs marking the other crossing were horrible so we ended up driving quite aways before we decided we probably passed it. We turned around and sure enough about 20 minutes the other way we should of turned. When we finally got to customs we were alittle worried that we may not be allowed to cross because i didnt have my birth certificate or my passport. (They were left with my parents so that I wouldnt lose them, we wouldnt stopped for them but i didnt think my parents wouldve thought to highly of me showing up at 3 in the morning, and heading off to the US.)

The customs man was very nice, we told him that we just kinda picked up and left, and that I wasnt able to go to my parents to grab my other id's. Needless to say after noticing that Amanda's birthday was the same day as his and after some chit chat he let us cross. 1 Problem diverted.

The second problem was that after we had crossed the border there was no signs for us to follow to get us to where we wanted to go. Signage in the US sucks, i guess it wouldve helped if we had a map.  So we remember that at the crossing that was closed there was a sign for Seattle. We thought it would be a good idea to follow the border back to where we might find some signs. We were really quite lost but it really didnt matter cause we had no place to be. Be ended up on a road that was parallel to one in Canada which was wierd, we stopped to get a picture of us in both Canada and the US (there was no fence) but when we got out of the car, apparently we decided to stop right where there was a border patrol guy, and he got out of his car, so we jumped back into the car and took off. We didnt want to get into any trouble after only being in the country a couple minutes.

Eventually we found the other border crossing and signs to Seattle. We were then headed on the right road. We stopped along the way to get some RedBull and make sure we were headed the right way.  At about 9am I was starting to get tired again, who wouldve thought, so we pulled over and napped again in another McDonalds parking lot. When we woke we decided that in case anything did happen to us while we were out of the country that someone should know where we were, or at least in the general area of where we were. So we called Darren, who thought we were quite strange and told him that if  we werent back by thursday night he had to come looking for us.

Then we were back on the road.  We arrived in Seattle about 11am or so. parked the car and went walking. Considering we had no idea where we were, or what we were going to do. We were close to the Space Needle, so we wandered around, and eventually ended up downtown, we did a little shopping. Eventually we ended up down at Pike Market which is a large market down by the water. We wandered around bought a few more things.  Then decided we were hungry. At this point it was about 630pm and we hadnt eaten since the morning when we had a chocolate bar. So we walked and we walked. We were starving and we couldnt agree on a place to eat. Eventually we walked so far that there wasnt any places to eat. Sooner or later we settled on Subway, and it was delicious.

We then came across our second problem. We didnt remember where we parked. Yes I know, what a stupid thing to do. It didnt help that we parked in underground parking, which is everywhere. Also Amanda remembered on thing and I remembered another and I will admit that Amanda was right in the end though I had no idea what she was trying to explain. Eventually after walking alot more we did find my car. Thank God...

At this point we decided that maybe we should figure out where we were going to sleep. Sleeping in the car was another idea, but not very smart. We decided we would find a motel when the time came.  We then went to the Space Needle where we went to the top and saw the city. It was about 8pm so the sun was just going down and it was amazing. We enjoyed the sights, then bought some souvenirs.  By the end of it all we were exhausted. We jumped into my car and decided to find a motel somewhere close to the Zoo cause we were going to go there in the morning. After not being able to find our turn and cursing Seattle for not having good signage we were headed in the right direction. Then we did end up finding a decent motel where we spent the night.

The next morning we took the maze to the Zoo.  Which was great!!! We had alot of fun and were there for almost 4 hours. We saw penguins, elephants, giraffes, zibras, monkeys, and our favourite the red panda. Yes i bought a stuffed one that sits on my dashboard. It was fun, we felt like little kids all over again. After the Zoo we had to find our way out of the city. Which after a wrong turn or two we did manage to do.  As we were getting out of town we remember that I bought  a postcard to mail to my parents that we hadnt mailed yet, so again off the highway and finding a mailbox was alittle harder than expected but we did it.  Then we were hungry so we had to get off the highway again, and getting back on was alittle complicating, they couldnt make things easy.

Once we made all of our pit stops it was smooth sailing. We sort of knew where we were going, and we were enjoying ourselves. But when we got to the border I was alittle worried they werent going to let us back into the country. Remember how all I had was my drivers lisence, well apparently thats not enough to prove im a citizen. So the boarder guy almost didnt let us past. But we batted our eyelashes, and he let us through, lol.  Back in Canada we were on our way home and our spontaneous trip was coming to an end. After following a truck with some cute guys, and after they turned, we contemplated following, we were headed home.  We arrived back into town about 9pm not even 48 hours after we had left.

It was a great trip that we wont forget. And after reading that whole thing I bet your bored. If not then you want to take a crazy trip as well.  Thats it for now.
