The diva, Lani Misalucha is easily one of the best singers in the country today. But what made her an even better star (than maybe most of the other singers we have) is her innate characteristic of being the simple lady who enjoys only the simplest of things in her life.

Lani, however huge her achievements maybe in her career right now, remains to be as grounded, as approachable and as nice as ever. Her old friends in and out of the business attest to this fact.

We were at Lani’s most recent press conference for the launch of her latest album under Viva Records (which Viva Records marketing expert Bambi Diploma informed us has been doing great in the market) “Loving You” and the response of the press to her is always the same. They simply love her.

Let me tell you a little anecdote about Lani that was so impressed in our mind after Ida Henares, Ronnie Henares’ (Lani’s manager) better half, mentioned to us in passing during our lunch meeting last week.

She recalled that they were in Singapore for a singing engagement one time and there, Lani was treated like a royalty, even by the other singing divas of the other Asian countries. And because of the success of the show, the producers were so happy to throw a grand party (where all the VIPs were invited) in Lani’s honor, at a five-star hotel, where everyone took turns in congratulating her and taking pictures of and with her.

But Ida said, “while all these were going on, Lani excused herself and I found her minutes later just outside the ladies’ room, on the phone talking to her daughter and telling her she misses them and that she loves them very much.”

That’s how simple Lani is. According to Ida, what’s good about Lani is that she doesn’t get dazzled easily by the fame and the pomp of the stature she has achieved in the business.

Even while in the midst of all the “glory,” she knows where she is happiest, and that is to talk to her kids and her family back home.

Lani is lucky. She doesn’t need any grounding factor to make her live real life despite the unreal world of showbiz. Her sincere soul is more than adequate to keep her grounded.

Anyway, catch Lani Misalucha as she does the round of mall shows for her “Loving You” album under Viva Records. She’ll be singing cuts from the new album, including the carrier single “Tila” and hold autograph-signing sessions after the 4 p.m. mall shows. The schedule is as follows: July 10 at SM Bacoor; July 13 at SM Pampanga and July 20 at SM Sucat.
