WAITE, Benjamin - second settler of Brecksville. As per "A Reminiscent History of Brecksville 1811-1961" by B'ville Hist. Assoc. 1961- he was the first death in the settlement. buried in what was his own land north of the Squire Rich museum. Wife Zilpha, and had 13 children. Harriet, Walter, Marie, Sophia, Sarah, Chester, Delia, Isaac, Mary, Benjamin Jr., Lydia and Almira. He arrived in B-ville in summer 1811 and died 2 months later at the age of 52.
WAITE, Benjamin Jr. married Sarah Kent, born March 18, 1818. lived in a slab house east of the Methodist Church in B-ville. his wife was the first teacher in B-ville.
WAITE, Chester the first doctor in B-ville. built the first frame house of the city.
WAITE, John - died in B-ville. he was the first town clerk and 1st deacon of the Pres.Church. Married "Rev. Barrett's mother for his third wife". lived on the Wm. Oakes farm. (I know where that is)
WAITE, John Jr. son of John. was the first white child born in the settlement that became Brecksville. He later moved to Michigan.
