Died in Lakewood, Ohio on July 9,1998 of brain cancer. Was a staunch supporter of Ronald Reagan and assisted him in winning the Republican presidential nomination.

SHEPPARD, Marilyn Reese b. 1923. d. July 4, 1954.
Wife of Dr. Sam Sheppard who was wrongly accused of murdering her. The crime became the inspiration for the television series "The Fugitive." Dr. Sheppard was originally convicted of the crime and spent ten years in prison. In 1966, a jury found Dr. Sheppard not guilty of the murder. DNA evidence from the exhumation of Dr. Sheppard's body in 1997 indicated that Richard Eberling may have killed Mrs. Sheppard. A civil suit has been filed by son Sam Reese Sheppard to clear his father's name and have him declared innocent. On October 5, 1999, Ms. Sheppard's body was exhumed by the DA's office, but the case is still pending.
