It
was a totally unforgettable experience. How many meteors or shooting
stars have you seen in your lifetime? One? Five? Well this year's
Leonid Meteor Shower turned out to be a meteor storm with thousands
of meteors per hour appearing over Canada. We must have seen a hundred
or more.

We
were fortunate to have a clear, but cold evening and a spot
on Burnaby mountain along with tons of other Vancouverites at
2 am Sunday morning. Smaller meteorites shot by - you'd miss
it if you blinked, while large earthgrazers like this one in
slow motion brought oohs and aahs from everyone. |
| The
shower occurs annually when Earth collides with a dust cloud
left by the comet Tempel-Tuttle. And occasionally it turns into
a storm if there are over 1000 meteors per hour. |
