Subject: sterling road race, aka "michele is a bloody idiot" went to sterling today to do the 1-2-3 race. was with karina, driving her car, and got lost. i wrote down I-90 instead of 190 when i looked at the flyer and ended up in amherst. lessons learned: print out the flyer, and look at a damn map. i guess i got cocky since i got to my job interviews this week without getting lost. anyway, i was pretty annoyed with myself, since i made karina miss her race, and i also missed mine. i ended up switching my entry to the men's 3 race. carnage. i stayed with the 65-person pack for one 8-mile lap, then was off the back. a guy named brian caught me and we rode together the rest of the time, 6 laps total. the race was 7 laps but we got caught by the pack just before we finished lap 6 so they told us to finish. all my teammates were yelling for me, which was cool, but embarrassing because i was so slow the good news is, i beat the other IF person in the race (he dropped out after one lap, i think) and about 6 or 7 other guys. brian and i were probably the last finishers though. (using that term loosely.) so with the warm-up lap, that was 56 miles, and i don't know if i can walk. monday: mass state crit champs
