devens was pretty slow. only 10 girls showed up for the 3 race so there wasn't very much action. yvonne took all the primes i think. i was doing pretty well on the hill and was in a good position when erin farnsworth tried to get away on the second-to-last lap. no one wanted to work in the "peloton" so it was just me and her out in front. i came around with about 500m to go, punched it up the hill and won. one of my friends said i had a gap of "about 10 seconds," which i honestly can't confirm or deny because i didn't look. also, i discovered that my hatchback is a great place to lounge around in and heckle people who are warming up on trainers. actually, i just heckled dane, who went to the race with me, and subjected him to lots and lots of cracker. a beer would have been nice, not that i like to drink it, but it would have made a good prop. harvard road race was a lot of fun. it was a 4 mi circuit, 6 laps. each time we went up pinnacle hill, which wasn't as bad as it sounds. i was actually feeling decent on the climbs and was able to stay up front, taking 2nd in the QOM in a field of 19. i had a strong teammate, kristen, and we tried to work together as much as possible. however we were no match for the BAM train and I got 5th in the field sprint, behind 4 of them. yvonne won, and she won all the QOMs too. she says she's well beyond the mandatory upgrade point now so she should be a 2 any day now. i won a total of $40 for the weekend (broke even on entry fees) and my teammate refused a share, opting instead for a beer at a future date. and i won a $50 cyclocomputer in the QOM. i'm going to put it on my fixed gear. it shows the temperature, so in the winter i can tell you all when i've been riding in 25 degree weather. it's raining really hard right now and i'm about to leave for the workingman's stage race (actually it's an omnium). 6 races in 8 days: devens crit, harvard road race, workingman's (tt, circuit race, points race on a car-racing track), falmouth road race.
