WHAT THE PAPERS THINK/SAY ABOUT MICHELE IN THE MATCH REPORTS:

SHEFFIELD STAR - "Karate black belt Michele Di Piedi has kicked into touch any doubts about his temperament.  Take this little scene just before half time: Di Piedi, getting to his feet after a challenge on the touchline, took a sly dig from the elbow of an opponent which was either ignored or not spotted by the officials.  Some players would have exploded.  And they might have found it hard to keep their tempers seconds later when intimidated in a forehead-to-forehead situation with a glaring English defender.  Di Piedi dealt with it all impassively, impressively, and on his full debut added a super, long-range goal to the repertoire of pace, strength and enthusiasm that he had already shown in lively appearances as a sub against Wolves and Huddersfield.  He is still raw, not the finished article, however, with perhaps plenty more to come, and the same could be said of Wednesday's side as a whole.  Spirit and graft are important of course, but it's also skill that fans want to see.  Di Piedi showed it with his dipping shot from at least 25 yards."

Green 'Un- Italian players aways seem to arouse passions of one sort or another, either in themselves or the people who pay to watch them.  Michele Di Piedi went wild with delight in celebrating his debut goal at Grimsby.  Now it looks as if there could be fascinating times ahead with Di Piedi.  At Grimsby the latest new comer, though he is still raw, again showed pace, a steady temperament, a willingness to chase lost causes, and a previously unseen finishing ability.  His dipping shot from 25 yards was a beauty....it was just a pity that the ankle knock that forced him off after an hour kept him out of the Blackburn game when many fans, and TV viewers, will have been looking forward to seeing what he might do.  In general footballing terms, we should not  expect too much too soon from Di Piedi, because of his age.  He will be expected to keep learning and keep his feet on the ground."

Howard Culley (SWFC Chairman) - "Di Piedi is a tremendous character.  Only 19 he is a completely different personality.  I don't think we will have any problems at all with him."
