| Season One Episode Two Lost at Sea |
| Jason and his brother, Brett, were walking thought a glass encased halway in ORCA. Outside, all around them was the coral reef. They were headed to the Lyceum, their classroom. "Mum's still mad at you." Brett said as they were walking. As if she'd let me forget." Jason said. "I don't know why she's picking on you, Jase. Anyone who thinks they see a girl floating around in the middle of the ocean need help. Real Bad." Brett said as Jason stopped to look outside at the coral reef. "Listen, little wart. There was a girl. And she wasn't floating. She was swimming like a fish. Jason said, upset that his brother was mocking him. "Yeah, sure, Jase. And don't tell me -- she was with Santa and the Easter Bunny too." Brett said sarcastically. "Moron! There was a girl!" Jason responded to his brother's comment. "Fine."Brett said quietly. * * * In a forest, up a tree, agirl wakes from sleeping. She grabs a vine, swings on it down to apool of water. She walks throught the water to a bush, and picks a piece of fruit. * * * Outside the classroom, in the hallway, Jason stopped and asked " You didn't tell anybody else what i saw, did you? I don't want other people thinking I'm nuts" "Hey Jase. I'm your brother. Would I do a thing like that?" Brett asks sarcastically. Inside the classroom, everyone was fooling around, throwing paper balls made from the computer printout paper, and yelling to each other and mocking Jason. The classroom consisted of all of the children of ORCA. "Hey! Look out in the ocean. Is that -- is that a whale? Or is it a sardine? No! It's a girl!" Damian said as he was holding up a roll of paper, acting like it was a telescope. Two of the older boys in the class were holding one of the girls in the class. The girl was acting like a mermaid. "All right! Everyone, settle down and go back to your study terminals now!" The teacher yelled as she came into the classroom. "I'm gonna get you for this." Jason said to Brett as he sat down to his terminal. He opened his laptop and looked at the screen, Someone had programmed a mermaid to show up on the screen when he opened it up. "Right, can I have your attention please? I'd like you all to meet a new arrival to this group -- Vanessa Lane. I'm sure you're going to make her feel welcome." The teacher said to the class. "The first thing we have to do is establish your learning level. Have you got your academic record?" The teache said to Vanessa. Vanessa handed her a disc. "Thank you." The teacher said. "How am I supposed to work with all of these children here?" Vanessa asked. "The computer controls everything, Vanessa. It sets the lessons according to each individual's learnign ability." The teacher said to Vanessa. The teacher looked down at the teachers terminal. "Right, now at your age, you should be a level eight." The teacher said "Same as Jason! Fortunately, Jason needs a partner for his zoology project. Don't you, Jason?" She said sarcastically "Student's grading is 12 plus" H.E.L.E.N, the computer said. "Well -- you are a bright girl, arn't you? But I still think we'll leave you and Jason together for the project." The teacher said. "Well, if he's the only one, just as long as he doesn't slow me down too much." Vanessa said. "Don't slow her down, Jason." the teacher said sarcastically to Jason. "I think she's asking for the old initiation trick. What do you reckon?" Brett said to his friends. "Oh yeah." Froggie said. "Definitely." Zoe said. The initiiation trick consisted of activating the communication screen in an awkward situation. Most new arrivals usually forget to turn off the view screen of the comunication system. So because of the way Vanessa acted, and since she was a new arrival, they decided to play the trick on her. * * * Vanessa was in her cabin taking a shower as she heard someone knock at the door. "Mum! Dad! Is one of you here to get that? Dam!" she called out while still in the shower. She got out of the showe, grabbed a towel, and went to see who was at the door. Zoe, who rang the bell, had gone back to the room where they were about to play part two of the trick. "Hello?" she called out down the hall. Behind her, the communication system activated. The video part activated directly behind her, and Brett, Froggie, and Zoe appeared on it. "Ha-ha! Yo, Vanessa. Looking good." They said, laughing. "Hi, Vanessa" Froggie said. "All right, here we go." Brett said. "Welcome to ORCA, sucker!" they said laughing "Look at her!" Froggie said. "All right!" Brett said, congratulating the others. * * * Vanessa was walking with Jodie to the lunchroom, Telling her all about what had happened. "It was that little Bates' creep behind it, I know. 'll kill him." Vanessa informed her. "But it's just the usual initiation. They know when you're new, you won't think to turn off the vision on the communicator. They do it to everyone. They caught me four times." Jodie told her. "Well no one does it to me and gets away with it." Vanessa said angrily. In the lunchroom, Vanessa found where Froggie and Zoe were sitting, having lunch. "Right, Where's your friend Brett?" Vanessa asked the two of them. "Haven't got the faintest." Froggie answered. "Listen. Someone is going to pay. And if it's not him, it might as well be you. So where is he?" Vanessa said, getting angry at the fact that they weren't telling her what she wanted to know. "Up top on the pontoon. They've got one of those new ANT boats in for service. And he wanted to get a real good look at it." Froggie answered, fearful of what she could do. "You chicken!" Zoe snapped at him. * * * One of the ANT(Automaitic Navigation Transport) boats was morred to the Pontoon, in for its regular maintenance. While the technician was away, Brett boarded the boat to take a look. In the ANT boat, he was looking at some of the controls on the boat. He looked up to see that someone released the mooring rope from the deck of the pontoon. He looked back to see who did it and saw Vanessa standing there. "Hey! What d'you think you're doing? Quick throw us a line!" Brett callled to Vanessa. "No way. You can either swim back or stay there until some one spots you." Vanessa said. "But they won't be watching topside 'til the next boat's due. That could be hours!" Brett told her. "Yeah, maybe you'd better try and drive it back in." she said. "How? there's no wheel!" Brett informed her. "It's automatic navigation, idiot, But a real smart alec liek you should be able to figure it out. So, welcome to ORCA -- sucker!" she said, pleased that she got him back for what he did to her. She walked up the stares to the elevator, leaving Brett in the boat to fend for himself. Brett, thinking he might be able to get the boat to work, pushed a touch pa that instantaneously activates the engine. "Hey! Hey! Someone help me!" Brett screams over the roar of the engine as he disapears into the distance. To Be Completed later |
