Reconstructive/Plastic Surgery Experience
I had reconstructive surgery on July 8, 2004 with Dr. Gregory Albert of Ft. Lauderdale/Delray Beach.  He performed three procedures at the same time:  minimal arm lift, extended tummy tuck, and breast lift with saline implants.  The surgery took eight hours under general anethestia and was performed at the Delray Medical Center.  I woke up just fine.  I was amazed with this fact!  I stayed overnight in the hospital and went home the next evening.  I was in plenty of pain but I would have to say the gastric by-pass was more painfull.

Once I went home I felt much better!  The pain was more manageable as each day passed by and I cut the pain medications to Tylenol as quickly as possible (by the third day).  The breasts really did not bother me, just the muscle area in between (the pain felt like I had a bad cough and my chest ached).  The arms hurt more because you use them so much.  I would have to say that mainly I was uncomfortable.  Once I was able to shower, I felt much better too.   I selpt in a recliner for about two weeks because of the tummy tuck.  You cannot straighten up completely for several weeks.  Coughing was a nightmare on the abdominal muscles that was for sure!!

I did have seromas (fluid build up and swelling) in my arms at different times but with antibiotics and time they went away.

Recent Update
Corrections are needed after several months of heeling but this will be done in the doctor's surgical suite under local.  I hope to do this sometime in 2005!!!  I don't think I will do any other surgery for a while because for one, I don't have the money and two,  I don't want to take the recovery time and three, what I had done really helped my self-esteem and I can live a little longer with my other sagging areas!! ;-)
