| Since I started playing around with video cameras and editing machines. I always wanted to make a movie. I tinkered around with various ideas, wrote scripts, drew storyboards, scouted potential sites etc. But it wasn't until 2005 that I started to do some "serious" work. After the sepperation of my exwife and I and moving to New Mexico to go to to school. Did I dream up an endevor that has now become and "obsession". The creation of a "television show" called The Daddy Show! This show has a target audience of.................1. Demographic 3yrs old. My daughter. Reflecting on how I grew up in a single parent home. I did not want my daughter to have the void I had. Sure I got birthday cards and christmas presents. But that didn't do what a fathers love could do. So to help her know that I was always thinking of her. I set out to create a plan that would do this. Step One: Call frequently. Step Two: Send a post card/letter once a week. Step Three: Visit her every three months. Step Four: Make movies for her. Some day I hope to move closer to her, I doubt we'll ever be in the same town. Sadly, there isn't much for me in Monett in way of a career. Making a television show for a three year old is a challenge for one her attention span is very short. Second she's three so the things she is interested are very limited. She not interested in world/national affairs, She's not going to understand grown up jokes, So I watched kids shows to get ideas. As I watched kids shows, I noticed a few things, There's a theme (remember this episode of Seseame Street was brought to by the letter "Q"), Each scene was under 5 minutes, mutiple characters, colorful, animation, and most important educational. I started simple: the zoo, the aquarium, old town section of albuquerque, and the state fair. I ensured I had either animals or cartoons in each episode, and to make the show longer and break it up into sections, I used commercials downloaded off the net. When I showed it to her she exclaimed "Daddy knows Sponge Bob!" I admit it felt great to see her face. So now here I am working on a live action "Daddy Show" movie. Initially, it was just going to be a 15 minute show like the rest but it has evolved. It's a basic idea, I visit Cartoonland to film an episode of "The Daddy Show" while there, I perform in concert with sponge bob, eat at burger world (someday Gracie will be older and watch MTV...groan), then I become a cartoon and get hit in the head with an anvil! I then wake up from a weird dream. The End. The script has been written, the story boards have been drawn, I'm now working on the animation and the blue screen shots. Stay tuned for more. |
