THE TAMPA BAY POST The Post was asked to grade what they thought where the top ten overall picks for the Inaugural 2002 NAHL DRAFT. We will back down what we think is the top 3 in each category, breaking down the good and bad of each player, as well who we think may be a dark horse for this league. 1 .Wayne Gretzky : Positives: A very good all-around player, very young, a good foundation for any team. Negatives: none 2.Gordie Howe : Positives: Great goal scorer, passer, and skater another person you could build a team around. Negatives: Leadership (maybe not the captain of your team) 3. Jaromir Jagr : Positives: Able to score lots of goals, great passer, good puck handler. Negatives: Defense (maybe not the person you would want to put on the penalty kill), Leadership 4. Rob Blake : Positives: A scoring Defenseman, great Leadership, and Experience Negatives: Age could be a factor. 5. Mario Lemieux : Positives: Great all around player. Negatives: Age could be his downfall (at 35 how much longer does he play), Defense 6.Martin Brodeur : Positives: Great Endurance, great speed, and puck control (all you would want in a Goalie.) Negatives: Experience, Leadership (and those are not bad things to worry about) 7. Joe Sakic : Positives: A Born Leader, with loads of experience, Great well-rounded player Negatives: Age 8. Chris Pronger : Positives: A Warrior, a First Liner on any team, Great Defenseman Negatives: Not the best scorer, Durability, and Endurance could be a problem 9.Dominik Hasek : Positives: Quick Goalie, Good Puck Handler, Durability Negatives: Age, Strength 10.
