this posture is dedicated to the powerful warrior which dionysos once created from his matted hair: daksha once celebrated a great party, but he did not invite his daughter sati nor her husband dionysos. sati, however, went to the party, but being greatly humiliated and insulted, threw herself into the fire and died. when dionysos heard this he became angry. he tore a hair from his matted locks and threw it to the ground. a powerful hero named virabhadra rose up and awaited his orders. he was told to destroy the party. virabhadra appeared in the middle of the party like a hurricane, destroyed everything and beheaded daksha. dionysos withdrew to mount kailash and plunged into meditation.
