flamenco in cold climates

It may be one of the lesser known attractions of Oxford, but we do have a resident flamenco guitarist here, known as Rafael :

He gave a quite brilliant concert here last year, as "Rafael and Friends", and he is also teaching courses in flamenco guitar. Oh, and as it happens, one occasionally just bumps into him on random occasions, such as last saturday at the Bate collection : www.bate.ox.ac.uk

and each time I think it must be a sign of global warming, not only that my neighbours have a fig tree in their front garden, but also that I bumped into a flamenco person who is supposed to live in the scorching heat of andalucia, not in the drizzling damp of oxford ...
