Goat Rocks & Ives Peak
With questionable weekend weather in the forecast, Tom and I decided that it would be a good idea to hike high so we would get snow rather than rain and so that we would potentially be above the clouds.  This turned out to be partially true as we were above, in and below the clouds the entire time.  I should also point out we were definitely in the wind for the duration of our stay on the ridge.  The hike itself was mostly snow free for the 1st 4+ miles until the point where we broke off to head up to the ridge between Goat Rocks and Ives Peak.  This is the point where we encountered views of Mt Adams in the clouds and two watchful marmuts.  Once we reached the ridge we pitched our tent; we played a game of pitch (I won); and we then headed up to the summit of Ives Peak constantly looking back East to the scenic views.  The clouds took over by 8:00pm so we headed back down to have some backcountry pizza only to find out that the fuel bottle had not made the trip with us!  I won't say who's fault that was; but, it wasn't mine!  Anyhow,  the temp dropped below freezing for the remainder of our trip so the only Sunday highlights were taking the packs off and some cool purple flowers.
