Michael Owen scored all 3 in this thrilling match which saw his first goals from open play this season. The first attack of the match came in the second minute when Liverpool won a corner after MO hit the ball at Schmeichel who knocked it behind for a corner. Danny Murphy swung it in and City produced poor defending and had a mini scramble and after a couple deflections it feel to Michael's left foot and he hit it home after just 4 minutes. It was his first goal in open play since the world cup game against Brazil!
Owen grabbed his second on 64 minutes when he beat the offside trap and raced on to Steven Gerrards wonderful ball. he out ran Jihai and had a one on one with Schmeichal but curled it with his right foot into the far corner. MO sealed a stunning performance in the 90th minute when he ran on to another wonderfull Gerrard ball and hit the ball against the post and in the net which rouned off an excelent performance from the 22 year old! |
