| Elves Elves are woodland dwellers broken into 3 major and 1 minor nation on the mainland. They typically stay in their own woodland nations, but when a threat to their home rises, the elves demonstrate thir proficiency at the art of war, communicating across their expansive homes quickly and travelling undetected to the source of the threat, destroying it with sword, bow and and nature magics. Personality: Elves tend to be reserved and calm, their long lifespans giving them a patience and insight that few other races can match. They are slow to come to decisions, and slower to act upon them. Elves do not tend to form close relationships with other races; their shorter, hurried lives, and relativly fluctuating trends are usually annoying to the more patient elves. Physical Description: Elves are tall and slender, standing about 5'8" to 6'4" and typically weighing 110 to 180 lbs, with females noticably shorter and slimmer than males. Daiken and Sylvanni elves tend to be blond haired, Forinelli and Darkwood tend to be darker haired, but all elves share characteristicaly brilliant green eyes. Elves have no facial or body hair. They prefer simple clothes, usually woolen, cotton, or leather, as well as simple jewelry. Elven fashion emphasizes the subtle. An elf reaches majority at about 150 years old and will live to be 1000 years old barring accidents or illnesses. Despite their frail constitutions, elves do not tire easily and only need to sleep 6 hours a night. Alignment: Elven society is structured and caste based so elves tend towards law over chaos. Even with such a rigid system, Elves also strive for the greater good and are good aligned more often than not. Religion: Elves grow up venerating Gaia, goddess of nature, but elves who travel to other lands may choose to take on the worship of other deities as well, the most often being Akaeris. Adventurers: Elves take up adventuring for many reasons. Some are dissatisfied with their rigid society and leave to pursue power. Others leave to pursue studies of magic or swordsmanship. Still others set out as crusaders. Elven Racial Traits * +2 Dex, -2 Con - Elves are graceful but fragile * Medium Size - as medium creatures, Elves get no boneses or penalties for size. * Elven base speed is 30' * +2 racial saving throw bonus against Enchantment spells and effects. * Low-light vision: Elves can see twice as far as humans in moonlight, torchlight or other conditions of poor illumination. They retain the ability to distinguish colors and details under these conditions. * Weapon Familiarity: Elves are proficient with either the longsword or the katana and wakasashi, or the elven thinblade and elven lightblade.They are also proficient with either the longbow and composite longbow or shortbow and composite shortbow. Elves esteem the arts of fencing and archery so they are familiar with one of each weapon type. * +2 Racial Bonus on Balance, Climb, Jump, Listen, Search, Spot, and Survival checks. An elf who passes within 5' of a secret door is entitled to a search check as though he were actively searching for one. * An elf's Jump checks are not limited by his height * Automatic Languages: Trader and the elven dialect of his homeland (Daiken, Sylvanni, Foronelli, or Darkwood) Bonus Languages: Draconic, Goblin, Gnome, Human, Orc, Sylvan. * Favored Class: Ranger (Daiken, Darkwood), Druid (Forinelli), Geomancer (Sylvanni). |
