A Brief Biography

Greetings!
Thank you for visiting my web site!
I welcome any feedback you may have.

By way of introduction:
My name is Michael,
I've been a Practitioner of one form or another for over 25 years.

After 7 years in the Marine Corps, where I had mistakenly assumed myself to be an atheist, I found myself introduced to Metaphysics through the teachings of Ernest Holmes and Religious Science. I first worked at their "headquarters" in Los Angeles and "The World Ministry of Prayer, after which, I attended their seminary and became a minister with churches in Riverside and Ojai, California.

As I continued my studies, I realized that many of the "inspiring passages" from the Science of Mind textbook were "borrowed" from Mrs. Eddy and the teachings of Christian Science. Holmes originally called himself a Christian Science practitioner - Boston objected, so he made up his own. It's very eclectic. (Like a metaphysical mulligan stew), but for some it may serve as a "bridge" into what I consider the Pure Spiritual Science of Christian Science.

I also studied Goldsmith's teaching of "The Infinite Way", had classes and private correspondence with Lorraine Sinkler for a few years.

I also had the privilege of meeting Marie Watts when I was in Los Angeles, California. She had been a concert pianist whose child was healed by Christian Science - so she became devoted to Science, was a Reader for a number of years, and like Goldsmith went out on her own - she called it the "Ultimate". Another "Absolute" perspective. I find her work very inspiring.

Dr. Hora was a Hungarian psychiatrist who had an "enlightenment" experience and started a school called "Existential Metapsychiatry". He also "borrowed" liberally from Mrs. Eddy (without mentioning it). I worked with that group for several years, earning a "Research Associates" degree with them. The best part was that through them I was introduced to John Hargreaves!

It finally dawned on me that every teacher that I found inspiring had at least a brief connection with Christian Science, so I should really go straight to the source. I was a little slow on the uptake but finally got the point!

I became an independent Christian Science Practitioner in 1992 and currently have my practice in Ojai, California.
