Letters to our troops!! As we discussed we are here to write letters supporting our troops in Iraq and any other countries our troops are inhibiting. These letters are meant to ensure our troops that we support them as human beings, not necessarily the war. I have posted websites on this site to offer you some options at going about this task. Many different types of organizations are supporting this type of correspondance with our troops and I give your the freedom of choosing which group you would like to correspond through. I understand that some of you do not support the war, so I have included sites that are non-governmental, made by normal citizens.

Composing a Letter If you have difficulty deciding what to write to the troops about here are a few suggestions. Think about things in which you are grateful. Think about feelings you have about the war and tastefully relay them to the soldier you are writing. Tell them a bit about yourself: name school, interests. Perhaps you would like to include your short story from English calss or a drawing or comic you found funny. Maybe you would like to explain some of the Double Entendre's we have been discussing in Romeo and Juliet. Anything that might make you smile will probably make them smile as well. Here is the URL of a website that will have a few suggestions for your letter. http://www.enduringresponse.com/participate.asp

About the World Around You After you have composed your letter either print it or submit it electronically. Then go on to finish the short webquest below. The questions below are to expand your knowledge about the history that is occuring around you. To answer the following questions, open a blank word document; cut and paste or type your answers. Do not forget to cut and paste the web addresses, URL's, of your articles. If you have trouble finding articles, search a specific newspaper. Find an article of protest and an article of support in reference to the war. How do these articles conflict and how do they agree? Find an article about the United Nations, what are the problems the UN has with the United States war on Iraq? Compose short summaries for each article, print out the summaries and hand them in for a grade.
