MICHELINE the ARTIST
THE COLLEGE
Micheline spent four good, enriching years at the Ontario College of Art and Design.  By entering the General Studies program, she was able to dodge the cloning techniques of the more dogmatic areas of study.  She exposed herself to these areas but never stayed long enough to be called "one who is of our school of thought".  In order to grow instead of stagnating, Micheline took the best of everything that was offered and left behind the dogma that traps so many artists.
THE ENEMY
To get the most out of her years at the college, Micheline searched out the finest instructors / artists the school had to offer.  They were wonderful mentors who believed in her work and strove to send an original artist out into the world. She learned much and reaped their praises but one enemy undid all their fine work.  The enemy within did not permit Micheline to value her creativity as a talent worth offering the world.  No critic could ever be as judgmentally savage about her work as Micheline is.
THE WASTED YEARS
For many years, the one and only place you could view her work was in the city dump. She wouldn't allow any of it to survive unless it met her rigid standards and none of it ever did.  Eventually, while working in the animation business, she abandoned her own art all together and thought she would be happier fore it.
THE NAGGING & GNAWING
Fortunately, creativity loves to nag and gnaw at an artist. until they surrender.  At first, Micheline's surrender was conditional.  She would only do portraits and feed people what they wanted to see.  Many are grateful for this decision.  They are not only impressed by the fine likeness she always manages to capture but are also thrilled by the strong reflection of her model's personality.  But again creativity nagged for a greater freedom of expression.
THE RESOLUTION
Finally, Micheline made one of the most important resolutions of her life.  She would give creativity free reign and be kinder and more gentle with herself. She would forget the unattainable perfection she sought. and pursue the simple pleasure of doing what she loves most.
THE FIRST BABY STEP
No, her first move was not to the internet.  The first step in returning to her first love was very simple yet very traumatic.  She hung her own paintings in her own home and has learned to enjoy them almost as much as others do.
AND NOW FOR CYBER SPACE
So now, she has made the move to the internet, which, considering the anonymity of the electronic venue, seems like the easiest commitment a very shy artist can make.  Still, she agonizes over every painting she places for view, fighting the need for unattainable perfection.  Here's hoping she stays strong and wins the battle.
WHAT ELSE CAN BE SAID
The rest of Micheline's life could be called "been there, done that without regrets".  Good times or bad times; Micheline feels they all contribute to personal growth and enrichment of the creative mind.
