Handling
Handling your Mouse/Rat is very important as they love to explore and when not handled they may become shy and unfriendly. While they like to be held they do like us need there own time and will gladly have a set time to play.Handling doesn't mean just take them out of the cage and let them run in a rat proof place where they will be safe. Handling is just what it says HANDLING!!.
ATTENTION!! see the photo to the left NEVER I repeat never hold your Mouse?rat like this it is very cruel and is not very pleasing for them. But im emergancies i repeat emergancies when you need to get the Mouse/rat out of the cage you can pick it up by the tail. When picking up by the tail try to hold the tail closer to the front as it may hurt to mouse when you copy this picture.
It is better off after you bring your mouse/rat home to give it a few days to adjust to it's new surroundings. But straight after that you need to start taming your new pet.Put you hand in the cage and see if it runs away (still scared) or if it sniffs your hand or doesn't run away then you have passed step one.Food helps any animal on the way to training place a little treat on your fingers and see if the rodent will come to your hand and take the treat eventually make the treat in your palm. Then they might be tame enough to hold.
