What does ISO 9000 Stand For

ISO 9000 registration is becoming a major international concern among manufacturers whose customers now consistently demand higher quality assurance for their suppliers.
ISO 9000 I a series of international standards for quality management and quality assurance introduced by ISO (International Organization for Standards) in March 1987. It is based on the British Standard BS5750 and ANSI/ASQCZ1 - 15 - 1979 and was revised in July 1995. The ISO 9000 series comprises three major standards ISO 9001, 9002, 9003, each of which certifies a different range and scope of operations as shown below.

Implementation of ISO 9000 requires documenting the procedures concerned with cooperate operations, specifying the management responsibilities, following the documented procedures, and recording the results / action. This system must be applied to every stage or process of operations company wide. ISO 9000 procedures also applied to control of inspection, measuring and test equipment which are essential to quality control. Scheduling and implementing periodic calibration of measuring and inspection equipment, controlling inspection results, and establishing Traceability of measuring equipment to the national standard would be basic ISO 9000 system requirement.
