anion- an anion is a negaive ion and is attracted the anode.
anode- the anode is the electrode where oxidation occurs. It is the electrode connected to the positive terminal of the d.c. supply.
ammeter- an ammeter is an instrument used to measure the electric current passing through a circuit. Electric current is measured in ampere(A).
cathode- the cathode is the electrode where reduction occurs. It is the electrode connected to the negative terminal of the d.c. supply.
cation- a cation is a positive ion and is attracted to the cathode.
electrode- an electrode is a pole where the electric current enters or leaves the electrolyte.
electrolysis- is the conversion of electrical energy into chemical energy in order to convert substances by oxidation or reduction, so that products are formed as the element or an appropriate compound.
eletrolyte- an electrolyte is a substance which conducts an electric current in molten state or aqueous solution, and is decomposed by electricity.
electroplating- is defined as the "elctrodeposition of an adherent metallic coating upon an electrode for the purpose of securing a surface with properties or dimensions different from those of the basis material."
variable resistor- a variable resistor is used to vary the resistance and then regulate the current.
