What We're All AboutThe Mid-Iowa Association of Wargamers (MIAW) is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering rewarding, educational and fun experiences through historical and fictional wargaming. We have monthly meetings to discuss club projects, exchange gaming and modeling ideas and, of course, to play games! Our members play a wide variety of games, so you're sure to find someone at a club meeting with similar interests. Our monthly meetings are held on or near the last weekend of the month. On Saturday the gaming is hosted at the Student Union on the Iowa State University campus in Ames, Iowa. On Sunday the gaming and business meeting is hosted at Regal Hobbies at 1980 N.W. 94th Street in Des Moines, Iowa. For more information you can contact Regal Hobbies at 515-964-6367. In addition to our regular meetings we are always looking for opportunities to hold demonstrations and meetings in new places to introduce others to our club and the wargaming hobby. The club has done demonstrations and games day events for groups such as the Boy Scouts, Order of the Arrow members, and home school groups.The MIAW club produces a newsletter containing articles written by club members. These articles range from battle reports, painting technique tips, figure and game reviews, and descriptions of visits to historical battlefields to many other gaming-related topics. |
