A radiator overflow Catch Can. It contains your coolant in the event of a Boil-over vice spilling it all over the track. It must be securely mounted, and have at least a one pint capacity.
All lug nuts must be on each wheel and they must be tight. Wheel stud must protrude into the Hex portion of the lugnut at least equal to the diameter of the stud.
Automatic Shifters Must have a spring loaded, positive reverse lockout along with a neutral safety switch.
No More than 12" of Rubber hose Fuel line in the car.
Battery must be securely mounted, stock location is OK. A trunk mounted battery requires an external battery cutoff switch and be vented outside the trunk.
Throttle cable must have an effective throttle return spring.
Seatbelts are Required, along with a long sleeve shirt and pants
Any Car running a Supercharged engine and an Automatic transmission, Regardless of Speed, must use a transmission shield meeting SFI Spec 4.1, as well as a flexplate meeting SFI Spec 29.1 and a flexplate shield meeting SFI Spec 30.1.
Driver must have a valid state drivers license.
Drivers must wear a helmet meeting SNELL 80,85,90 or 95; or SFI 31.1, 31.2, 41.1 or 41.2 in order to Race.
When Using Slicks, A driveshaft loop must be utilized that is at least 1/4" thick by 2" wide (Steel), or 7/8" Tubing with a minimum wall thickness of .065". It can't be any more than 6" behind the Front U-joint and must completely encircle the driveshaft.
Convertibles only - A Rollbar and a 3" Wide Harness with shoulder, crotch and lap belts.
Now it doesn't matter what you have for tires, the aforementioned Driveshaft Loop is needed Here.
3" wide Harness meeting SFI Spec 16.1 is required (See Convertible in 13.99)
A Rollbar & Head protector consisting of a Main Hoop, 2 struts going back and a Drivers side door bar is the MINIMUM . Basically, A 6 point Bar if you include the passenger side door bar.
Manual Transmission vehicles must have an SFI Approved (Spec 6.1 for a Single disc clutch, 6.2 for a multidisc clutch) scattershield to contain a possible Clutch/Flywheel Explosion, and it must use Grade 8 Bolts in all available holes.
The Flywheel and Clutch Must Also be SFI Spec 1.1 or 1.2. A cast iron flywheel is Illegal at this point (Why would you want one anyways?)
Screw in Valve stems are mandatory on all wheels with tubeless tires.
Driver Must also Wear a Jacket Meeting SFI Spec 3.2A/1.
Rollcages are usually required at this level, Unless the car has a full body and an unaltered firewall, floor and Body (Yes, you can keep your fiberglas hood!)
Wheeltubs are permitted as long as the above rules are adhered to.
Aftermarket axles with positive Retention device must be used. If your running the Cheesy 10 bolt (7 5/8") rear end your out of luck. No C-clips allowed.
Must have a harmonic balancer meeting SFI spec 18.1.
At this point your car must be inspected every 3 years by a certified NHRA inspector. They slap a serialized sticker on your frame and you get your very own NHRA Rulebook, Have Fun!!
