MIA chief on trade visit to China
Malaysian Investors' Association (MIA) president Dr.P.H.S.Lim will visit China for three weeks from today to asses investment opportunities available there.
He will visit Nanjing and Shanghai. In April, Lim signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Nanjing New & High Technology and Economic Development Co Ltd to look into areas for investment.
Malaysian investors will be given certain privileges for investment in Nanjing by its administrative committee, he said in a statement. Lim will also visit Shanghai to asses the capital markets there. "China needs to have strong viable capital markets to support its rapid economic growth."
It was reported the Chinese government had injected monetary aid into some of the state owned companies which are listed on the stock exchanges in Shanghai, Shenzhen and Hong Kong.
Lim said such governmental assistance was needed to maintain price stability for China's listed stocks and to develop a more active market for China. - Bernama.
