Proudly Presents:

A Tribute To A Very Special Horse:

Red Wine PC

aka "Buddy"
(Arabian gelding)
Buddy & I waiting ringside
Buddy was an incredible horse. We met when he was 5 and I was 15. And before I met him, I was deadset against him. I wanted a mare. I had grand visions of myself as an Arabian breeder (ahhh, to be 15 and naive again ;^) and so a gelding just didn't fit in with my plans. That all changed the moment I saw him. It was love at first sight and no other horse would do :0)
Buddy never failed to keep things interesting, either by spooking at the same mailbox we had passed 100 times before (he was a quirky guy, to say the least ;^) or winning his Saddleseat Pleasure class his first time in the ring!
Buddy & I during our younger years
Buddy and I spent 13 wonderful years together. I lost him to Cushings' Disease in January of 2007 and it was the hardest thing I have ever been through.
Heading into Showmanship
He may have
been a handful at
times, but he
was such a sweet, tolerant boy.
Don't believe
me? Check out
the picture on
the right ;^)
Two Hippies!
Buddy was a one-woman guy. He was friendly, and genuinely liked people...as long as they didn't try to ride him! He was a Momma's boy and absolutely refused to tolerate anyone but me on his back. With the exception of children. Put a child on his back and he was a perfect gentleman. Anyone else was more likely to be treated to a rodeo-worthy bucking bronco!!!
Ready for my close-up!
Buddy and I had a long-running "agreement". The Horsemanship classes where mine, and he was to be on his best behavior, while Pleasure was his domain and he could act a fool if he felt the need to. I think he appreciated that "artistic freedom" ;^)
Buddy and I as Scarlett & Rhett :0)
Pretty Boy!!!
Buddy was my once-in-a-lifetime horse. He taught me a great deal about horses, friendship and responsibility. Every day without him is a challenge, but I know in my heart that I will see him again one day. Until then, he will hold a very special place in my heart and I have 13 years of incredible memories of our time together.
My Buddy and I in 1996
Run in greener pastures, my friend. My little guy with the great, big heart. I love you and you are greatly missed.
