| Miaka learned that the country she was in is called Konan, the southern country of the universe of the four gods. The four gods are the phoenix god Suzaku of southern Konan, the dragon god Seiryuu of eastern Kutou, the tortoise god Genbu of the northern Hokkan, and the white tiger god Byakko of western Sailo. Emperor Hotohori told Miaka of the legend that a young girl would appear from another world and gather the Suzaku schichiseishi. The schichiseishi are seven warriors marked by a glowing Chinese symbol on a part of their bodies. When the shichiseishi were gathered by the miko, the respective beast god would appear and grant the miko three wishes. Miaka accepted her role as a Suzaku no Miko and eventually falls in love with Tamahome, one of her shiciceishi, along with Emperor Hotohori, Nuriko, Chichiri, Tasuki, Mitsukake and Chiriko. |
