(Prologue) ~*~*~*~ A short boy sat typing furiously on his laptop, under the shade of a tree. This boy was none other than the child prodigy, Izumi Koushiro. ~*~*~*~ The heat of the sulfur was absolutely unbearable, yet the eight children continued to walk through it. ~*~*~*~ A half hour later, the DigiDestined were in the hottest part of the desert - so far. ~*~*~*~ "I am very sorry about you friend, DigiDestined. But there is very little we can do about it now." Yasoshaymon told them. ~*~*~*~ Later... ~*~*~*~ Heh, how's that for suspense? Poor Yama's kidnapped by FuegoDiaboromon (wanna know what he looks like? Just picture a somewhat plumper Diaboromon/Diablomon colored a brick red...), and the kids just defeated Apocalymon! (But don't worry, we're not zipping straight to Season Two. Because I have a bit more planned before Davis and the others come in.) Well, get ready for the next chapter! (which has my personal favorite - - characters narrating! Yay! *does her happy dance* ^_~!) ~Lost~ (One) ~*~*~*~ "He's so pale and thin." ~*~*~*~ Is Yamato's claim true? Did Tai really look for him? Are cliffhangers a real pain? Is the author going to stop writing these stupid notes so you can read the next chapter faster? Or is this just a stalling technique?

"Listen, the only way we can win is by going THIS way!" The dark haired boy yelled.
"And I'm telling you you're wrong! If we go my way, we might actually LIVE!" The blonde boy yelled back.
The brown haired boy was Yagami Taichi, and the blonde was Ishida Yamato. And once again, they were in the middle of an argument that looked as if it would start them off fighting... again.
The oldest of the DigiDestined, Kido Jyou, realized this, and tried to stop the two.
"Taichi, Yamato, can you guys just stop fighting? Please! You're acting like two year olds!" He protested.
"Stay out of this!" Taichi yelled, pushing the older boy away.
"Listen, you. If we go your way, we're gonna end up DEAD! Do you want that?!"
"Stop being so pessimistic! Sometimes you've gotta have a little faith, Yamato!"
Yamato was speechless.
'How can anyone be so... so... idiotic? Doesn't he realize he'll kill us all if we go this way?' Yamato thought.
"...go your way, we'll lose at least three days! Are you listening?"
"Oh, get it through your head, Yagami! You'll kill us all this way! You care more about winning than you do the team!" Yamato yelled.
"That's not true! And if you don't like it, you can just go your own way, how about that?"
"Maybe I will."
"Huh?"
"I said maybe I will! You're such an idiot Taichi!"
"Why you... Fine then, go! We don't need you anyway! You're just a pathetic loser who doesn't have any friends anyway, so why should we care?"
Taichi had struck a nerve, and he knew it. It was what he was hoping for. Yamato was constantly troubled by the thought that he had no friends, and that he having the Crest of Friendship was just a big joke. Which was why his Crest never glowed.
He felt that his Crest wouldn't glow, that Gabumon would never Digivolve to Ultimate, because he had no friends.
Oh, sure, Gabumon made it to Ultimate, and eventually Mega, but what a horrible strain it was on Yamato.
Yamato turned his head away. "At least I care..." He muttered.
"Humph! Fine then. It's settled. We're going my way." Taichi said.
"What?!" Yamato yelled, whipping his head around to face Taichi. "Haven't you been listening? Don't you understand?!"
"Take it or leave it, Ishida. We're going this was, whether you like it or not. You can't stop me."
Yamato's tightly closed fists grew even tighter.
"Fine." He said. "But when something happens, don't say I never warned you."
"Hiya, Koushiro! Watcha doin'?" The young girl Yagami Hikari asked.
"Nothing much. I'm just looking over some of my previously saved files." He answered.
"Oh, okay. Koushiro, why does my bother fight with Yamato all the time?" She asked.
"Uh... Well, I'm not sure, exactly. My guess would be that it's because both of have different opinions on how they should lead, I suppose."
"Oh. Okay." Hikari sighed.
'Taichi's so stupid! This..flaming desert goes on for hundreds of miles! And he knows it! Just because my way takes a couple extra days to get through, he has to make us all suffer!' Yamato thought.
"Yamato, I'm hot..." His younger brother, Takeshi Takeru whined.
"I'm hot too, Takeru, but it's not my fault we're here." Yamato said, glaring at Taichi.
A girl nearby sighed. She pushed a few strands of hair away from her face. Her name was Takenouchi Sora.
"Yamato, try not to get Taichi upset. He's already mad."
"So what?" Yamato grumbled back.
"Yamato! Please."
"Fine, whatever, Sora." He said heavily.
He wanted to leave, to go his own way, but he couldn't. Takeru wouldn't be safe with Taichi alone, knowing his leadership skills, and with Yamato being such a lousy older brother and DigiDestined...no.
Yamato turned his glance from the steaming sand to the back of Taichi's head. Taichi. He was always one-upping Yamato. Who had the strongest Digimon partner? Taichi. Who was the leader? Taichi. Who did everyone run to when they were in trouble? Taichi. Who was always there before Yamato to catch Takeru before he fell? Taichi.
'It's not fair.' He thought.
Seconds passed, then minuets, and then hours.
"My feet are sore!" Tachikawa Mimi whined. "Can't we take a break?" She asked Taichi.
"No! We have to keep on going for as long as we can."
Mimi groaned.
"By my calculations, we haven't even gone through a quarter of this desert. And it's just going to keep getting hotter." Koushiro told them.
"Great." Taichi groaned.
"What's wrong? Starting to think this wasn't such a good idea?" Yamato asked him.
"Shut. Up." Taichi said, sprawled out on the ground.
"Eh... Those sulfur pits stink!" Jyou complained.
Just then, a loud rumbling sound filled the air.
"What the...?" Takeru said in wonder.
A dark shape appeared on the horizon, and within seconds, it was closing in on the DigiDestined.
Koushiro opened the Digimon Analyzer program on his computer.
"FuegoDiaboromon. He's a Mega level Virus type with enormous attack power. His attack is -"
"Black Flame!" Huge balls of black fire exploded from the Digimon's hands.
"Aah!" The children screamed as they dodged the attack.
The evil Digimon laughed. "You can NEVER stop me!"
"Okay guys, it's time to Digivolve!"
"Not so fast, DigiDestined. My Black Flame attack does more than just burn my opponents! It stops them from making any Digivolutions!" FuegoDiaboromon laughed again. "And now, I will take you all to my Master!"
He reached for them all with his hands, but only grabbed three.
"No! I'm too beautiful to die!" Mimi shrieked, as Takeru sobbed, and Yamato squirmed, trying to escape the monster's grasp.
"Let 'em go! Pepper Breath!" Agumon yelled, sending a small fire ball towards the evil creature.
Once again, FuegoDiaboromon laughed as the tiny fire hit.
"You won't laugh once I'm done with you." A calm Digimon said. It didn't look like a Digimon, though. It looked more like a small ball of light.
"Heavenly Light." The Digimon said. Instantly, the entire desert was engulfed in a beautiful, shimmering light. This light stunned the monster, causing him to drop all but one to the DigiDestined he had grabbed.
"You might have won this time, Yasoshaymon, but I'll be back... But for now, I'll settle with a lovely consolation prize!" He said, holding up a squirming Yamato. "Night Transportation!" He yelled, disappearing into the shadows, Yamato with him.
Yasoshaymon was a Mega level Vaccine Digimon, that always tried to protect the innocent. His attack, Heavenly Light, was very powerful.
"But..." Takeru started, not knowing what to say.
"I'm sorry, young one. But I do not know where his Master's lair is..."
The children soon defeated the Dark Masters, and, after a horrible battle, Apocalymon. But the battle with Apocalymon changed the Digital World's time flow. Instead of the Digital World's time being faster than the Real World, it became slower...

(Yamato's POV)
FuegoDiaboromon had carried me away to his Master's lair. I was questioned on just about everything except my shoe size. I refused to answer their questions.
"Fine then, Yamato. Take him away! Keep him locked up until he talks!" The Master called out to some Digimon guard.
The first thing I noticed when I reached the underground dungeons was -
"Indoor plumbing. How nice." I joked.
"Get in there." The Digimon ordered. I walked in and sat on the cot.
I got food and water each day. I guess they wanted me alive.
After a while, I noticed the only source of light was the ever-burning candle. I noticed this just when it was a small stump of wax. Pretty soon, it went out.
And that's when I found out that the dark really can be scary. You think you know what dark is. But you don't. You don't know what dark is like until you've been locked away in a small dungeon, underground, with no light at all except for once a day when a Digimon guard brings you food and water.
It was in this darkness that I began to lose all hope. Why would the others come looking for me? Taichi had said it himself. I was just a pathetic loser with no friends.
And much later, I began to think that maybe I wasn't even there. That maybe I was just a ghost, floating in some dark abyss, lost and wandering forever.
And I still refused to talk. I was loyal to my friends...if they even were my friends.
After two years, I began to lose track of the days. Soon after, the meals stopped coming.
For a week, I had nothing to eat, and a small amount of rancid water to drink. It was then that someone came to my cell. I couldn't stand it. I didn't want to end up dying here.
"All right. You won. I'll talk." I said tiredly. I was picked up and carried up the stairs that led to the outside. I was weak with hunger, so it was no surprise when I fainted.
"I wonder if he'll remember us."
Voices. I heard them as my eyes fluttered open. I saw faces. Some I had never seen, others were like they were from a dream. I knew I had seen them before, but I couldn't remember them.
"Here. Have a drink." A girl said, handing me a bottle of water.
I took it and drank the whole thing in a matter of seconds. It was so refreshing. But it didn't stop the fact that the light was so blinding.
All that time I had wished for the light, and now I wished for darkness. Weird, huh?
And the water...the water was ice cold, and it chilled me. Not too badly, though. Having spent years in an underground chamber, I was always cold, so I was sorta used to it.
"Thank you." I said, my eyes closed tight from the sunlight.
"You're welcome. Are you..okay? Do you need anything?" She asked me.
"Food. Please."
"Sure. Here you go." She said handing me some. I looked at it. One of the few things I remembered. A sandwich. I took large bites, finishing it fast. At that time, I thought it was the best food ever.
"What is your name?" I asked the girl. "And..the rest of them."
"My name is Inoue Miyako. That's Hida Iori, Motymia Daisuke, Ichijouji Ken, Hawkmon, Armadillomon, Veemon, and Wormmon. Do you know the others...?" She asked me.
I looked at them, the ones she hadn't named. "I'm not sure. It's like I remember their faces, but I can't name them." I said.
"Your name is Ishida Yamato, isn't it?" Iori asked me.
"Y-Yes. How did you know?"
"We...were looking for you. For a long time, we searched." A familiar voice said.
That voice. I knew I'd heard it somewhere before, but...where? I looked at the speaker. Huge, brown hair, held away from his face by a blue band, and brown eyes...
"Yagami Taichi...? Is...is that you?" I asked.
"Yeah. Yeah, it's me. How are you doing?" He asked me.
"Well, I'm alive." I said just a little too rudely.
'But then,' I thought, 'wouldn't he deserve it? It couldn't have taken him two years just to find me...could it?' Just as I was finishing that thought, a new one came up from the deep crevices of my mind.
'You're just a pathetic loser who doesn't have any friends...' I suddenly remembered that day, when Taichi and I had been in the middle of another fight.
Did he really mean that? I didn't know.
"Yamato? Are you okay?" Taichi asked, snapping me back to reality.
"Why did it take you so long to find me?" I asked abruptly.
"Yamato, we looked for you for months. We didn't find you. We thought that you might have died or something..." Taichi trailed off.
"Two years, and you never found me?"
"Two years? Yamato...can you stand up yet?" Taichi asked me.
"I guess so." I got up shakily. "So?" I said. Taichi then stood up. I realized instantly that he was taller than me. A lot taller. "Woah..." I said.
"Yamato...time in the Digital World is a lot different than it was before. You said you were locked up for two years. Well, that was Digi-Time. You've been gone for..."
"How long, Taichi?"
"Five years, Yamato. Five years..."
My legs turned to mush and I sat back down.
"Woah..." I repeated.
Taichi nodded. "Yeah. But we found you, didn't we?" He said. I nodded as once again his words came back to me from long ago.
'You're just a pathetic loser who doesn't have any friends anyway, so why should we care?'
"But why did it take you this long? Five years..."
"Yamato, listen. We searched for so long."
I shook my head. "I don't believe you, Taichi. Do you remember what you said to me, two or five, or however many years ago it was? I do. And I also remember how you were back then, Taichi. You didn't look for me."
I know these chapters are really short, but this is a 'Short Story'. It's supposed to be short. Okays? ^_^!!! Well, anyway, I hope you're all on the edge of your seats with anticipation for the next chapter.
