power for him as well. To get what he wanted, he allowed several youkai/demons to be let into his body to be possessed, to get back at Inu-Yasha for stealing what he thought rightfully belonged to him. After setting up the scene between Kikyo and Inu-Yasha on the fateful day when they were to meet was arranged, he impersonated them, became them but only to their eyes and tried to destroy the opposite one, to make them think that the other had instantly betrayed them. Kikyo's hatred for Inu-Yasha flared, and so the Shikon no Tama she'd been guarding filled with impurity; evil. That was just what Naraku/Onigumo was counting on, but he did not, however, expect for Kikyo not to use the jewel to revive herself after receiving the attacks that assailed her. The last he'd heard of Inu-Yasha and Kikyo was on their deaths, with Inu-Yasha impaled in an unbreakable spell against the Sacred Tree in his forest. Now that he has known of both Kikyo's ressurrection and Inu-Yasha's rise from the dead, he intends to kill Inu-Yasha as he had intended more than half a century before, to claim Kikyo once again by using his cunning skills and his dark offspring which he made out from his own being. |
