Chapter 8: “Final Battle! New Friends”

I call out to them. “I’m here! The chamber!”

 

“Chamber? WHAT CHAMBER?!”

 

“The one you’ll never find!” Seijio answers Ryo. He swings his sword, but Ryo ducks. “BLAST YOU!” He goes for another try, this time inadvertently hitting Cye across the chest.

 

Cye screams in pain as he falls down.

 

“Cye!! You jerk!” Kento armors up and readies his own weapon.

 

“Guys! I’m in Anubis’ chamber!”

 

“WHERE IS IT?!” Ryo answers me, calling out.

 

Seijio laughs at Cye’s injury, and then glares at Kento. “Prepare to suffer the same fate.” He declares. He swings his sword at Kento who dodges, and Seijio growls in frustration.

 

“You can’t get me as easily as you did Cye.” Kento tells him. “I’m a lot tougher than that!”

 

Meanwhile, I escape Anubis’ imprisonment and hurry on to my friends, wearing the nightdress that the warlord had put me in. The first one I run to is Ryo, simply by following his voice. “Ryo! Sage!”

 

“BLAST YOU, WOMAN!” An enraged Anubis gives chase behind me.

 

“Mia!” Ryo runs up to me. “Stay back! It’s too dangerous for you here!”

 

Seijio swings his sword at Kento again. “DIE!!”

 

“Not on your life, scum!” He blocks the first attack, but isn’t prepared for the second and sports a slash across the shoulder. “AHH!”

 

I boldly step in to stop this battle between friends. “Forgive me, Sage!” I knock him to the ground and pin him there. “Sage, come back to me!” I’m using all my remaining strength for this, but I’m determined to break this spell as tears fill my eyes and fall. “Come back to me now!” Just then Anubis catches up to me.

 

“You are trying to get on my bad side, aren’t you?”

 

“GET OFF ME, WENCH!” Seijio pushes me off of him. “You will pay for that!” He readies his sword to bring it down on my head. I let out a terrified gasp.

 

“MIA, LOOK OUT!” Rowen shouts.

 

“NOOOOOO!” Ryo pushes me out of the way just as Sage brings down his sword, slashing Ryo’s side.

 

“RYO!” Rowen and I call out in unison.

 

Seijio laughs evilly then points his sword at Rowen. “You’re next, Strata!”

 

“We’ll see about that!” He armors up and nocks an arrow.

 

Seijio rushes at him, but Rowen fights back and fires an arrow, which embeds itself into Seijio’s shoulderplate.

 

But he is unharmed and swings his sword, growling. “DIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!”

 

Rowen narrowly dodges the attack and fires arrow after arrow. Sage screams as five arrows hit him at once.

 

“Sage, please stop!” I beg. “Snap out of it, and I’ll…I’ll marry you, Sage! I’ll say yes!”

 

He lays semi-conscious on the floor. “Huh……?”

 

Rowen walks up to his fallen friend, next to me, and tries to get through to him as well. “Sage. You are a Ronin Warrior; you are not part of the Dynasty. Please, snap out of it.”

 

Sage blinks fuzzy-eyed at his friends.

 

“FIGHT IT, Sage!” I tell him. “Come back to me! Come back to US!”

 

“THIS IS INSANE!”Anubis shouts angrily. Then he tries to drag me back to his chambers.

 

“Let her go, you monster!” Rowen nocks another arrow and fires it at the Warlord.

 

He gets hit in the shoulder and cries out in pain. Then he turns and glares at Rowen. “You’ll pay for that!” He lunges at Rowen but is stopped by an arrow hitting him in the gut. “Ack!” He falls to his knees then vanishes.

 

“You…jerk!” Sage weakly says, taking his hand off his own embedded arrow.

 

Rowen runs up to him. “Sage! Are you alright?!”

 

“Ye…ah…” Then he passes out.

 

“Sage! SAGE!”

 

“Sage!” I run up to them and support Sage gently, holding him close with tears in her eyes. “Please hold on, Sage. I love you.” I start crying softly.

 

“We’ve got to get this guys back home.” He says both to me and himself. “They are hurt immensely.” He looks back at the unconscious and injured Ronins. “Problem is…how?”

 

Just then, two people appear in front of us. They looks like Warlords too, but…were they friend or foe?

 

“Perhaps we can help.” Warrior 1 says.

 

“Should we? I mean, the Master…” the other asks in uncertainty.

 

“I only obey one person. And it’s not the one you obey.”

 

The second warrior sighs. “Fine, fine.”

 

“Who are you guys?” Rowen asks them.

 

“I am Viper. Son of Sekkhmet.” The second warrior replies.

 

“Sterling.” The other says simply.

 

I look at them, my cheeks stained by tears. “Can we trust you?”

 

Sterling nods.

 

“Yeah, I won’t betray ya.” Viper tells us.

 

“We need to get these guys – except Anubis – back to Mia’s house right away.” Rowen explains.

 

Sterling looks at the fallen Ronins. “I can help them.” Then he looks back at us. “Will you let me?”

 

I nod without hesitation. “Yes, I will.”

 

But Rowen wasn’t as sure, suddenly hesitant. But he decides to trust them. “Yes. Please help them.”

 

Sterling nods and kneels next to Cye, placing his hands on the Ronin’s chest. They glow a light blue for a moment before he removes them.

 

Cye slowly opens his eyes, coming around. “Mm…wha…?” He sits up, now healed.

 

Then Sterling moves to Kento then to Ryo repeating what he’d done for Cye.

 

“Hey, don’t forget the blonde.” Viper reminds him.

 

“I wasn’t going to.” He walks over to Sage and heals him too.

 

“I’m ready to go now…” I tell them.

 

“Alright.” Viper and Sterling teleport us all back to my house.

 

 That’s when Sage starts coming to. “Ow…who ran over me with that truck?”

 

I look at Sage, with him still supported on my shoulder. “Sage?”

 

He looks at me. “Hmm?”

 

I smile when I realize that he is his old self again, and hug him gently. “Oh, Sage, you came back!”
