Chapter 5: Deception and Kidnapped

Cye hugs me in comfort and I gladly return it. “I’m sorry…” I tell him apologetically.

 

“It’s alright, Mia.”

 

“How will we get Sage back? How will we enter the Dynasty?”

 

“I’m not sure. Maybe the best way is to sneak in…somehow.”

 

“And there are no gates anywhere…”

 

“Maybe we could teleport in.,” he suggests. “But I think that requires all five of us.”

 

“And an extra person would use up too much energy.”

 

“Unless there’s a way you could help us teleport.”

 

This surprises me. How could I help them teleport? I didn’t even have any special armor or power. But for my friends, I was willing to try anything. “Me? Well...Sure. Maybe if I concentrate hard enough…”

 

“Then that’s our way in. Let’s go tell the others.”

 

I nod in agreement. “Right.” We walk back to the house together. And once back inside…

 

“Hey, guys, great news.” Cye informs. Ryo is the first to respond.

 

“What’s that, Cye?”

 

“We know how to get into the Dynasty and rescue Sage.”

 

“Really? How?” Kento asks curiously.

 

“Teleportation.” I tell him.

 

Now it’s Rowen’s turn to be curious. “But don’t we need Sage to do that?”

 

“Mia can take his place.” Cye explains.

 

“If I concentrate hard enough, I’m sure we could do this.”

 

“The let’s.” The Wildfire and Inferno armor bearer agrees. “I don’t want Sage to suffer any more than he has already.”

 

“I couldn’t agree with you more, Ryo.” I tell him honestly.

 

“Good. Everyone get in a circle and hold hands.”

 

Everyone gathers around forming the circle, including Ryo and myself.

 

“Okay, now concentrate as hard as you can on where you want to be.”

 

 We all close our eyes in deep concentration. When we open them again, we are inside the Dynasty gates and I open my eyes.

 

“Cool! It worked!” Kento shouts excitedly.

 

“Shhh! Don’t need to alert the whole Dynasty!” Cye shushes to Kento.

 

“So where do we start looking first?” Rowen wonders.

 

“The dungeons.” their leader answers. “That’s the only logical place he would be.”

 

I nod, and Kento says excitedly, this time whispering. “Then let’s get the lead out!”

 

I nod again in agreement and we make our way toward the dark, dreary dungeons.

 

Once we head deeper into the dungeons, we start looking around and calling out Sage’s name.

 

“Sage? Sage??” Ryo whispers.

 

“I don’t think this is working.” Cye remarks, feeling doubtful.

 

“It just takes time.” Kento assures him.

 

“We don’t have time!” Cye states matter-of-factly.

 

“Hey, I’ve found something! Over there!” Rowen says, pointing to his left.

 

“What is it?” I ask, walking up to him.

 

“I’m not sure, but I think it might be Sage!”

 

I go ahead of Rowen cautiously, speaking softly. “Sage…?”

 

“Wh-who’s there?…” the voice answers back weakly. It sounded like Sage…but was it really him? I felt slightly confused now.

 

“It’s me…Mia.” I tell him.

 

“Mia…?” he responds, sounding slightly surprised despite the weakness in his voice.

 

“Yes.” I whisper back to the figure I slowly see in the darkness.

 

“C-come closer, Mia…” he tells me as he raises his arms. I do as he requests, still cautious.

 

“Will you…hold me?”

 

“Yes…” I go up to him and give him a gentle embrace.

 

“Thank you…MIA!!” he starts laughing insanely startling me. I try to pull away, but he has a tight grasp on me.

 

“You won’t get away from ME!!” “Sage” slowly melts away to reveal Dais, the Warlord of Illusion in his place!

 

I struggle harder to get free. “You monster! Let me go!”

 

“Never!” He manages to tie my hands behind my back and I desperately call out for help.

 

“Let me go! RYO!”

 

The Ronins hear my cries and hurry up only to see what had happened.

 

“Huh? MIA!!!” Ryo rushes more toward the Warlord, and me ready to fight if necessary. “LET HER GO!!”

 

“NEVER!! Master Talpa has plans for her!”

 

“FORGET HIM!” Kento shouts. “HOLD ON, MIA! We’ll get you out!”

 

“LET HER GO, DAIS!” Cye intervenes.

 

“Forget me!” I tell my friends. “Go find Sage!”

 

“NO! We have to save you too!” Ryo tells me

 

“Yeah, we can’t just leave you here!” Rowen agrees.

 

I try once again to get free. “What have you done to Sage, Dais?!”

 

“Sage? Ah, yes. The little whelp is hidden somewhere within these Dynasty walls, and there’s no way you will ever find him!” Then he laughs evilly.

 

“You monster!”

 

“What do you want from me…?” I reply sadly, looking down and giving in to the Warlord. He only scoffs at me.

 

“Like I’d ever tell you in front of the Ronin Dorks.”

 

I growl, and he places a gag over my mouth. “Shit up, you little brat.”

 

I look up at my friends, seeing them all ready to fight and rescue me. ‘Sage…’ I look down as tears fill my eyes then look down causing them to fall. ‘Forgive me, my friends…I’ve failed you.’ The last thing heard is Dais’ evil laughter as he teleports us both away as we disappear from the darkness.

 

“MIA!!!!” Ryo cries out as Mia and Dais disappear.
