Web Page Design is
an introductory course that examines basic HTML editors and web
publishing software. Course skills will include learning the
essential ways to develop a web site.
This course is designed to
meet 3 hours for each of 3 classes. Successful completion will
allow the student to receive .9 CEUs.
Competencies
- Identify and demonstrate an understanding of web
browsers and search engines.
- Identify the main elements of web browsers (both text
and graphical).
- Compare and constrast browsers.
- Identify search engines.
- Identify effective search techniques.
- Compare and Contrast search engines.
- Assessment: Teacher Observation and Student
Interaction
- Identify and evaluate the basic parts of a web site.
- Identify terminology basic to web pages.
- Identify the basic parts of a web page (e.g., graphics,
text, and animated gifs).
- Identify and bookmark (add as Favorites) sources for
free education graphics
- Analyze proper web design (information design,
interaction design, and presentation design).
- Bookmark (add as Favorites) web sites.
- Assessment: Use a Teacher Provided Checklist for
a Personal Web Page to evaluate sites and make a brief written
report on 5 most liked sites and 5 least liked sites.
- Identify and demonstrate Hypertext Markup Language and web
publishing software.
- Identify HTML components
- Identify web publishing software.
- Assessment: Create a simple webpage using HTML
and the same page using web publishing software.
- Create and publish a web site
- Investigate and identify a topic for a web site.
- Plan the web site by using a storyboard.
- Create the web site.
- Publish web site on the web.
- Assessment: Use a Teacher and Student
Constructed Rubric to evaluate each site.
