10 Simple Steps to

Upload your Web Pages

Use these steps if you built

your index page [home page] in PageBuilder and other pages in Composer and /or Dreamweaver

  1. Save any picture you may need as .jpg or .gif in your folder on your computer. Use all lower case letters with no spaces or special characters as the file name.
  • If you edit an image in Fireworks, remember to save it (default is .png.)
  • Then export your Fireworks image; I usually add the letters exp to the file name so that I know which file to select later. (It then becomes a .gif).
  1. Create a new page in Composer or Dreamweaver. You may use your html coding "hint sheets" to save time later
  • You could change the Geocities link information, your mailto: information, your picture information.
  • Your pictures, however, won't show up in Composer if you take this short cut.
  1. Save the Composer/Dreamweaver File in your folder on your computer. Use all lower case letters with no spaces or special characters as the file name.
  1. Close the Composer/Dreamweaver File.
  1. Open Geocities File Manager. Upload your file and pictures in file manager.
  • Check the Boxes to change to lower case and html.
  1. Preview your page through File Manager.
  1. Make any simple changes in html coding problems, such as your img src, your links, etc.
  • Make only 1 change at a time; preview your page; if it is correct, save it.
  • Make othe changes as needed, 1 at a time.
  • Your screen name (/mhstiger_teacher/) is all that is needed to link back to your home page.
  • Your screen name (/mhstiger_teacher/webdesign) followed by the page name is all that is needed to link back to your other web pages.
  1. Leave File Manager Open. Go to New Window on Netscape and Open Pagebuilder.
  • You will have 3 windows on your menu bar so you can move back and forth between File Manager and Pagebuilder.
  1. Open index in Pagebuilder. Make changes on home page.
  • Add a link to your new page, change the date modified, etc.
  1. Save your index page and preview it in Pagebuilder.
  • Close everything out.
  • Share your web page address with your friends!

NOTE: If you open and edit a page in Composer, you must REPEAT STEPS 3 - 7 EACH TIME!

Percy Quin State Park and wanted to share it with you.)
