He had gained extensive experience with small provincial companies before beginning his career proper with GLYNDEBOURNE. He worked with the Company for 7 years, with understudy and small Comprimario roles. Notably Giuseppe in Sir Peter Hall's LA TRAVIATA.
He played the role of Piangi - the opera singer in Andrew Lloyd Webber's
PHANTOM OF THE OPERA 1992 -1993.
He also appeared in shorter running musicals SWEENEY TODD & BERNADETTE.
The Player's theatre cast Martyn in several Victorian Pantomimes and in their regular Victorian Playbill.
In Television he provided the voice of Harry Secombe in the SPITTING IMAGE series and featured in the FIAT TIPO car advertisement. Recently providing opera voice overs for London Marketing Ltd in the Barbers of Saville Row.
He has performed most of the major Principal and Comprimario tenor roles in the well known operas and some less well known.
Don Jose in CARMEN has been one of his favourites, which he has sung in 13 different productions and Tamino - THE MAGIC FLUTE.

Concert work has included 2 South Bank recitals in Schubert and Schumann and numerous touring Opera presentations.
Notable Oratorio includes: soloist in the Mozart Requiem with the late Sir Charles Groves and tenor soloist in the St. Matthew Passion at Snape Maltings.
