Sadly enough, on the first day of snow 2001, which was only like a few days before Christmas, my poor little Festiva went for it's last ride. :( The transmission had been grinding for a few weeks. I started it, and the shifter yanked itself to the left and grinded. We pushed it into the driveway with the late, great Jeep you see above, and it has been there ever since. So, at 157,000 miles, we put it to rest. Although this car had a somewhat short life, it had many, many experiences. It lived through a madman, an enraged driver, and someone who simply liked to have fun with it. Those 157,000 miles may sound like quite a few, but considering that it was beat on daily by 3 crazy teenage drivers, its life was filled with action and excitement. It saw everything from street races to mud pits, and lived to tell about them. We towed it out to Dakota County Technical College and donated it recently. Hopefully it will find an owner that will replace the gearbox and breath life into my little Festiva. As stupid as it may seem, I miss the little thing, and if I ever see one sittin on the side of the road for sale, I will seriously consider buyin the little fella, and continuing the Festiva legacy. |
