My 1981 Suzuki DR500
This is my 1981 Suzuki DR500, sold to me by my VERY generous friend, Tom. It ran beautifully, and roared down the road with suprisingly quick speed. When I bought it, it needed a new kickstart and compression release cable, but besides that, it was mint. The thing tears grass with a slight flick of the wrist and roars as it does it. The first day I had it, I had just washed the seat, and I decided to check it out and open it up.... Bad idea for an unexperienced rider! The newly cleaned seat was nice and slick, and I slid all the way to the back of it! The front end eased it's way off the ground, and about scared the piss outta me! When I got used to it I could yank the throttle and pull the front end about 3 - 4 1/2 feet off the ground and hold it for about 3 house-lengths. The thing has taken me everywhere I've wanted to be and beyond! It used yank me up hills in a heartbeat, leave deep gouges in grass fields like nothing, and even slammed me through a few mud pits that no SUV (not even a Jeep) could even dream of getting through!
The pictures above are of me hitting the mudholes at Tony's cabin... at one point, I was flinging mud up to 40 feet in the air!!!
