Hanging lake is a very elusive lake. Failure rate is 80% for parties attempting to reach it. Only a couple groups a year attempt it. It's one of the most beautiful lakes in the northern cascades. All I have to go on is accounts, maps, and pictures. Here's what I know about it :
upper chilliwack river eco trail, hike 45 mins, cross river, 300m bushwhack
30mins, hanging creek
trail 200m away
750m vertical - hanging creek must be crossed. from 750-780 depending on runoff.
900m brush bowl begins - goal is creek at far left
bowl -> 2hrs tree island - > 3hrs to creek now
follow creek for 100m , ascent up gulley. here's looking back once you've reached the top of the gulley. 1000m the cut line is the canada/us border.
trail entrypoint
many bowls, some bushy, some boulderfields. up and left for a while. then, first view of the lake!
